  28.    Welcome to DivX Codec 6.5!

  30.    In this update we have included several
  31.    user-requested enhancements to the codec that improve
  32.    the quality of the viewing experience.

  38.    The encoder now supports common NTSC and PAL pixel
  39.    aspect ratios so you can keep the full resolution of
  40.    your source video and the DirectShow decoder will
  41.    automatically use your video card to adjust the picture
  42.    dimensions during playback. The DirectShow decoder also
  43.    now supports de-interlacing, either in software or
  44.    accelerated by your video card. When using this feature,
  45.    you no longer see jagged edges and horizontal lines
  46.    during motion sequences in interlaced content and when
  47.    the hardware overlay is enabled you can see silky smooth
  48.    motion at 60 fields per second, which is perfect for
  49.    all of your 1080i video and DV footage!

  51.    Other enhancements include support for qMobile and
  52.    Mobile profile encoding to help you take your DivX
  53.    content with you anywhere and a 10% performance
  54.    improvement in the decoder, permitting either lower CPU
  55.    use during playback or better quality deblocking.

  57.    Once you are done creating your amazing new DivX video
  58.    try publishing it to Stage6, our new video community
  59.    website. Stage6 offers free hosting for high quality
  60.    DivX video files and allows visitors to watch them
  61.    live inside their web browser using the DivX Web Player,
  62.    now included as standard in the DivX for Windows and
  63.    DivX for Mac bundles. Publishers can see ratings and
  64.    comments from their viewers, create their own content
  65.    channels and, in the future, will even be able to earn
  66.    money from the videos they publish.

  77.    * Support for non-square pixel aspect ratios

  79.      The DivX Codec now allows you to keep the original
  80.      pixel aspect ratio of your source video, specifying
  81.      the appropriate aspect when encoding. This allows you
  82.      to maintain greater resolution and thus improve
  83.      picture quality during playback, especially when
  84.      watching videos at full-screen.
  85.  
  86.      The DivX decoder for DirectShow will automatically
  87.      instruct your video card to use the correct aspect
  88.      during playback when the option to "Use advanced
  89.      hardware overlay" is enabled and set to "Original"
  90.      aspect in the Decoder Configuration Utility (see the
  91.      DivX programs group in your Start menu). This is now
  92.      the default setting after installation.

  94.    * Support for de-interlacing during playback

  96.      The DivX decoder for DirectShow can now de-interlace
  97.      video during playback. This means that when you play
  98.      an interlaced video clip you will no longer see jagged
  99.      edges around objects or horizontal lines running

  104.      1) When de-interlacing is enabled but the advanced
  105.         hardware overlay is disabled, de-interlacing will
  106.         be performed in software and the frame rate will
  107.         remain unchanged. For example, if the DivX video is
  108.         30 frames/60 fields per second, then you will see
  109.         30 de-interlaced frames per second.

  111.      2) When de-interlacing and the advanced hardware
  112.         overlay are both enabled, de-interlacing will be
  113.         performed by your video hardware and the frame rate
  114.         will be doubled. For example, if the DivX video is
  115.         30 frames/60 fields per second, then you will see
  116.         60 de-interlaced frames per second.
